Though this video is totally unrelated to climbing, the location - The Olympic Peninsula in Washington state, USA - brought back memories of the Outdoor Educators' Course (conducted by the National Outdoor Leadership School) that I had completed in August 2002 within the Olympic National Park. Now, 13 years later, my son Sanal Jeremy and I camped at First Beach at La Push for a week. While he pursued his passion for surfing (and a whale happened to surface just behind him on one occasion!) I made brief jaunts to the Hoh Rain Forest and Sol Duc trails within the National Park. And on a perfect day in May we drove to Hurricane Ridge which provides the visior with a grandstand view of the mountains within the park, including Mount Olympus, the highest of the group.

During the NOLS course, the middle summit of Olympus had been our objective. The 18 days that I spent with the course within the Olympic National Park was one of my most memorable experiences in the mountains. I shall be writing a blog post about that trip in the near future.
